1993 Gala Ball

15th September 1993

A night to remember again at Ally Pally – but with a difference. The gigantic hall was a picture in balloonology. Besides the tables having their own decorations, thecomplete dance floor was canopied over and a great arch formed behind the stage – all arranged by Balloonland.

The Bands again playing free, their contribution to the cause was superb. Session Sounds, Calibre and Fascination each with their own special brand of music kept the crowd on their feet, the floor overflowing. Our sincere thanks to them all.

You, our supporters were magnificent once again, about 1800 in all buying the increasing popular magazine, raffle tickets, donating raffle prizes and being there. We need your support more than ever. Well done.

We had our special cabarets; firstly Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band who played most of his hits through the years, to a captivated audience of all age groups. He finished off with posing for many a photograph and signing numerous autographs, our thanks to them.

Following Acker we were very fortunate to get the great Sybil from the USA who was No. 5 in our charts. She produced her hit numbers and many others, thrilling one and all with her bubbling personality. She also sold several of her CDs and donated proceeds from the sale to HAPC. May good luck and happiness follow her always. She was terrific.

Finally we cannot forget our big hearted, tireless band of helpers who unselfishly give up valuable time to help set-up the event and clear up, organising coaches, selling raffle tickets, magazines and all that needs doing for the annual HAPC great fund raising dance. A very special thank you to all and also the various group organisations.

I am delighted to add that I was highly honoured to represent HAPC (UK) at the inauguration ceremony of our Madras branch registration on April 24th 1994. Madras is the third registered branch we now operate in India and hopefully Calcutta will make it the fourth in 1995.

So your support is still greatly needed and we look forward to it constantly and feel sure you will not let us down.

Back to Harrow Leisure Centre this year by popular choice. Hope you enjoy it. God Bless.
